Wilpattu National Park sits on Sri Lanka's northwest coast, near the ancient city of Anuradhapura. Its tropical climate brings a dry season from May to September, when you can spot leopards lounging around the park's 60 "villus" (natural lakes), and a wet season from October to February, which is perfect for birdwatching with over 200 species like the painted stork.
